The land nurtures the people, and a Cantonese song nurtures the emotions.
Do you still remember those melodies etched in your heart?
As the subway rushes by, a song like 'Ladder to Heaven' builds a cozy corner in your ear; during overtime at midnight, the familiar tune of 'Red Sun' from the radio instantly reignites your fighting spirit; in times of disappointment, there is the gentle resonance of 'That's How We Are All Grown Up'. Cantonese songs are never just melodies — they are the breath of this city and the marks of our growth.
These voices that accompanied our growth will now reappear before us with the grandeur of a symphony. Presented by the 18th anniversary of the Hong Kong Amateur Orchestral Society, the 'Orchestral Support for Cantonese Songs' concert is an earnest creation that reshapes the classics with a symphonic arrangement. When familiar melodies meet the grandeur of an orchestra, unprecedented emotions will burst forth.
The concert is also honoured to invite the legendary pianist Ted Lo to join forces, blending jazz with Cantonese melodies. The Winds Platform Wind Band and 'Koi Song' enthusiastically join in, infusing a rich palette of wind colours; popular singer Shane Ho will also cooperate with an orchestra for the first time, singing with deep emotion.
This is not only an auditory feast but also a cultural celebration for every Hongkonger. When the violin plays the prelude to 'Crescent Moon Serenade', will you be moved to tears? When 'Singing Love Songs with Our Backs' turns into a symphonic poem — you will hear the most touching rebirth of Cantonese songs.
This is not only an auditory feast but also a cultural celebration for every Hongkonger. Our persistence needs your witness; every ticket is the most powerful support for local culture.
Let us tell this land with our actions: Cantonese songs will be passed down forever.
A group of people, guarding a song —
Tonight, let us lead Cantonese songs to a new chapter with the loudest applause.
